CANCELED: Stone Lab outing
May 16, 2020
Please note: This event has been canceled
The Fulbright Association Central Ohio Chapter is hosting a day-long visit to Ohio State’s Stone Lab in beautiful Put-in-Bay, Ohio! The Fulbright Association has invited Delaware Buckeyes to participate in this lifelong learning, giving us access to a place that you couldn’t ordinarily visit on your own. Stone Lab is a leader in environmental research, and it’s right here on Lake Erie!
The trip will be on Saturday, May 16 from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. Delaware alumni and their guests (grade 5 and above) can attend. The cost is $40/person. We’ll meet at the Miller Ferry, 5174 Water Street, Port Clinton for the 10:00 a.m. ferry. Ferry cost is $7.50/person.
The day’s itinerary includes a water taxi from Put-in-Bay marina to Gibraltar Island, a welcome session with Central Ohio Chapter leaders, lunch and tour of Gibraltar Island, and a choice of three science activities. You can choose to visit the Lake Erie water snake lab, dissect a fish or join a science cruise on Lake Erie. We end the day together at the water quality lab. You can choose to stay in Put-in-Bay for dinner on your own (Lake Erie perch!) or head back to the mainland.
There will be some walking on uneven ground around the island and of course, don’t forget that getting off and on the ferry can be slippery so wear comfortable footwear.
Watch for the registration process to come soon.
